Some scale practicing patterns similar to the Czerny or Hanon patterns for piano.
To increase flexibility, improvising skills, endurance and strength. Scale patterns should be played both legato (holding previously played notes as long as possible) and staccato (lifting fingers off of previously played notes). The latter is more helpful during improvisation.
