Description
Haydn's Sonata # 37 in E Major Hob. XVI/22 was composed in 1773
likely for the pianoforte in its early days although performances on harpsichord and clavichord are equally valid. It was dedicated to Prince Esterhazy as were many works and a manuscript from that year exists whether in Haydn's hand or by somebody else. Publications used for this arrangement were by Roitzsch and Martienssen. A great deal of insight was obtained by the wonderful work of Wim Winters (YouTube channel "Authentic Sound"). His inspired performances of Haydn on clavichord were a major impetus to arrange this for two guitars.
