Description
Haydn's Sonata # 34 in D Major Hob. XVI/33 was composed in 1778
for the pianoforte or harpsichord. It was published in 1785 in Paris by Leduc and on the title page in an ad for a “Magazin de Musique” the guitar is mentioned. Later Spanish guitarist Tarrega would arrange the first part of the Tempo di Menuetto. A great deal of insight was obtained by the wonderful work of Wim Winters (YouTube channel "Authentic Sound"). His inspired performances of Haydn on clavichord were a major impetus to arrange this for two guitars.
