descripção
The famous Bourree with performance notes to teach guitarists an approach to polyphonic music. Generally, my approach to polyphonic music is a lyrical and not harmonic approach. I believe the guitar to be most expressive when playing melodic lines rather than arpeggiated chords or scales. This is different from the baroque lute for instance and it is my belief the guitar should not try and mimic that instrument but play to its own strengths. Hence, I find it necessary to finger polyphonic music so that upper strings do not continue to ring over lower strings in a descending scale--and that lower bass notes not ring underneath higher string bass notes. This practice keeps the voices intact-not dividing them and enhances the separation of voices.
