Description
The fifth of five Divertimentos originally written for 3 basset horns between 1783-1785. Mozart's widow notified a publisher that Anton Stadler , a famous clarinetist and friend of Mozart, had 25 pieces (5 Divertimenti) in his possession and advocated publishing them (to benefit her of course). Stadler claimed they were stolen, possibly pawned, however they were printed in 1803 and have become welcome additions to the clarinet repertoire. Originally in Bb Major this arrangement for two guitars is in E. The movements consist of Adagio, Menuetto, Adagio 2, Romance and a Polonaise in A Major. As Mozart never wrote for the guitar I believe these works make a welcome addition to the guitar repertoire too.
